student free days

From 2024, there will be 4 student-free days for ACT public schools. These are the first day of each school term:

  • Term 1, Monday 29 January 2024
  • Term 2, Monday 29 April 2024
  • Term 3, Monday 22 July 2024
  • Term 4, Monday 14 October 2024

We use student-free days for staff development, enabling us to plan in a student-free environment. Student-free planning days have been expanded from 1 to 4 days from 2024 as part of our new Teaching Staff Enterprise Agreement which prioritises better teacher workloads for educational leadership, teaching and learning. AEFE Sport - 2024 Asia Basketball Cup - Cambodia

Our students shone at the 2024 Asia Basketball Cup in Cambodia. The boys' team clinched the gold medal in the high school category, while our girls' team brilliantly secured the third place in the college category.

During their stay, they had the unique opportunity to compete against and meet peers from French schools across all Asia, including Phnom Penh, Bangkok, Shanghai, Manila, Seoul, and Hong Kong. They also got to explore and appreciate the culinary and cultural heritage of Cambodia. A huge thank you to the French School René Descartes for their warm hospitality!

Primary Swimming Carnival

Primary and secondary students recently enjoyed their swimming carnival with the introduction of new house mascots! 🏊

Options were presented during assemblies at schools, and students voted for their favorite. All animals are native to our area and will be referred to by their Ngunnawal names, with permission from the Indigenous Education unit.

We are eager to see these mascots become an integral part of our school culture beyond sporting events, so we hope you will appreciate them as much as we do! 🙌

Year 7 Camp

On Monday – Wednesday of Week 6, 188 Year 7 students went on a 3-day camp to Jindabyne. They took part in a range of fun activities like raft building, canoeing, crate climbing and mountain biking.

They also completed a 12km hike to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko (the highest mountain in Australia).

They got to spend a night camping at Thredbo & Ngarigo where they learned to set up a tent and worked together as a team to cook dinner.

They all had the opportunity to try new things and learn new skills and overall the vibe was really positive and everyone had a great time.
